What To Do If Your Tallow Balm Melts During Shipping?
Please be aware that tallow balm is a natural product made from animal fat, and as such, it can soften or melt when exposed to high temperatures during shipping. While this does not affect the quality or effectiveness of the balm, it may result in a change in texture or appearance. If your tallow balm arrives melted, simply allow it to cool at room temperature or refrigerate it until it solidifies. For our balms containing only tallow and beeswax simply stir well and allow them to solidify to their normal consistency at room temperature or in a refrigerator. However for our balms containing avocado oil or honey we recommend that you follow the simple instructions below to whip your tallow. This will be the simplest way for you to fully incorporate those ingredients evenly throughout the balm.
We cannot be responsible for temperature-related changes during transit, but rest assured that the product is safe to use. Thank you for understanding!
Instructions for Whipping Tallow Balm that Melted During Shipping
If your tallow balm has melted during shipping, don’t worry! You can easily whip it back into its original, creamy texture. Follow these simple steps:
1. Allow the Tallow Balm to Cool Slightly
If the balm is still very liquid, let it cool at room temperature for a bit. Ideally, it should be a thick liquid, but not completely solidified yet.
2. Place the Tallow Balm in a Mixing Bowl
Once the balm has cooled to a thicker, liquid consistency, transfer it to a clean mixing bowl.
3. Use a Hand Mixer or Stand Mixer
Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, begin to whip the tallow balm on medium speed. The goal is to incorporate air into the balm to create a fluffy, whipped texture. Start slowly to avoid splattering, then increase the speed as the balm starts to thicken.
4. Check the Consistency
Once you’re satisfied with the texture, check if the balm holds its shape. If it’s still too soft or liquid, let it cool for a few more minutes before whipping again.
5. Store in a Clean Container
Once the balm is whipped to your desired consistency, transfer it into a clean jar or container. You can reuse the original container, however because our balms are not whipped before we pour them you will likely have more whipped tallow than will fit back in your original jar. Store it at room temperature to maintain the creamy texture, or refrigerate it if you prefer it to stay firmer.
6. Use as Usual
Your whipped tallow balm is now ready to use! It should have the same nourishing properties as before, with a smooth and airy texture.
By following these steps, you can restore the texture of your tallow balm and enjoy its full benefits!
